scat has a kit..you can order that kit from any vendor you want...just a matter of customer service and price..the parts are all going to be the same.

I measuring the main bearing bores of my 340 block with my dial bore gauge and I got 2.6925". According to my service manual diameter for a 340 is suppose to be 2.4995-2.5005" and for a 360 its 2.8095-2.8105". Is the manual talking about the diameter of the journals on the block or the crank? Diameter of my cranks main journals is 2.4780", there is also a .020 stamped onto the bearing. If I take the spec of lets say 2.5000" minus 2.4780" of the crank I get 0.022".
So this makes me think that the manual is giving the spec size of the main journals of the crank. But then there is no spec of what the diameter of the block and main caps are suppose to be.

the main housing bore size is 2.6925-2.6930
the std. shaft diameter is 2.2995-2.5005
the block doesn't have journals, it has housing bores. the crankshaft has journals.

One more quick question, is it normal for the bore to be smaller then what its suppose to be? Its suppose to be 4.0700" smallest I got was 4.0680" Largest was 4.0715"

it depends on what size the pistons were that were in it and how much clearance the last machinist gave them. either way you've got a .0035" swing on the size which is far outside what i would consider acceptable.
on a new hone job, the bores should be straight and round within .0002" using a torque plate.

I have been in contact with muscle motors racing to see what kind of kit can be put together yesterday. Nothing has been final yet so Im still open to different vendors.

They did ask If i knew the deck height, but im not sure if it was anything was done to it on the last rebuild. I did but a straight edge across the piston and used a feeler gauge and did come up with .025" above the deck. is there a more accurate way to check it?

I went with muscle motors racing. Picked up a 416 stroker kit with forged crank, forged pistons, piston rings, and h beam rods completly balanced. 10:1 compression with 63cc closed chamber heads. With the camm thinking of will put it a little under 9.2:1 dynamic compression

Justin make sure you look at everything you get from MM very closely when it arrives. I bought a stroker kit from them and it came in destroyed. The pistons had the tops ground and it looked like the used a DA grinder and a new guy. Whoever did this machine work also put the pistons in a vice to hold them and broke 3 pistons between the ring groves. When I called them they sent out replacement pistons that were almost as bad and I guess they were mad that I complained so much the used TRASH as packaging material I had to take everything back to them and get a refund. The owner was surprised at what happened and gave me my money back. Mike Liston of MRL Performance hooked me up for less money and better parts. Just a FYI

Not last summer but the one before. They seemed to be a good source and good pricing but that was far from what I got then. Just make sure you look everything over real well, I would say this was a isolated incedent but after speaking around the web it is not. Several engine builders in this area (MICH) used them for machine work but had to find other shops due to poor workmanship...
