I installed the Comp Cam 23-712-9 Xtreme Energy cam (286/294 duration with .544 / .541 lift), Comp valve springs (925-16 395lbs/in), with matching retainers and 10* locks to my stroked 440 (440Source heads).
I am ready to order the hydraulic roller lifters, but have read of different 'issues' (that was the extent of the article) with the Comp brand. I did run a set of off-brand internet cheapo's with a quick (142 miles) failure of two of the slide bars.
I will not be taking this over 5500rpm (street). I am looking at the comp & lunati lifters (summitracing).
What are your roller lifter preferences concerning longevity for this setup?
Thanks

The units sold by Bullit Cams and Hughes Engines are the Morrel lifters and are GREAT! I have use three sets with great success! They run great with 3/4 to 1 1/2 round preload I HATE the Comps--they are junk and will bite you. I would run at least one round preload and it will be quiet --I have 1 1/2 round on my personal units and they are quiet as a mouse peeing on a ball of cotton yet still rev. Good Luck!

I appreciate the input, I will look at these. I put ~ .030 to .040 (3/4 to a full turn) on mine when installed. Do you think I short changed the pre-load?
I have not heard if Lunati's are any better than Comp??
