When I went to bed last night I had no turn signals. When I woke up I had them. When I turn the park lights on, the indicators still light up, one brighter than the other. I used a remote ground and started touching dash areas, the front parking lamps, and the rear housings, no change.

Could a un grounded or mis grounded front park lamp cause this issue??

I have dealt with this issue on my trucks.First off I made sure beyond a doubt that I had good grounds on signal/parking lights.Next I pulled the bulbs out of the side marker lights to see if it made a difference. In my case it definately did,my side marker clearance lights work through a less than sufficient backfeed system that causes problems when the bulbs are plugged in...I assume it may be the same for '71 E-bodies but don't know. Sounds mostly like you have a grounding issue somewhere since the problem is intermitent...perhaps this wiring diagram will be helpful.

Thanks for the help guys! I cant wait to get out of work to look at it again. I just bought the car and it had a rotisserie resto so I figured it was a ground through paint issue. Just cant find it, Like I mentioned I had a park lamp out but it worked while it was hanging and plugged in. I added the ground but just could have a poor test result throw me in circles. I'm used to new wiring diagrams and new technology!
