I'm really set on rebuilding a set of 3 piece BBS RS for my car or a set of VWW V48's...

Is anyone running their 17 inch wheels?

From what I know about BBS is that they're target market is usually the European Cars or the Imports. I would imagine to make the wheels fit you would have to redrill the bolt pattern and break the welds off of the wheel face to readjust the offset to fit your car specifically. It depends on how cheap you are able to find them for. You might as well find a distributor that can make a custom 3 piece or aluminum wheels specific to your application. From what I have seen, ccwheel.com ("Complete Custom Wheels) has the best price and their wheels aren't half bad.

3 piece wheels are bolted together, not welded. And you can just use an assortment combo of different width inners and outer halves to create the back spacing and width you want.

Of course you are still somewhat limited in that..I like 2 piece wheels since you can pretty much put the center any where you want in the outer to get the exact back spacing you want (As I did on my car, and we do with wheels we build in Oz all the time)

I've never used stuff by VWW though..I buy my centers that are made locally and outers from another company.

Nahh, just get them with 114.3mm bolt pattern and they will drop right on. This same pattern is used on various models from Acura, Infiniti, Hyundai, Rover, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi,Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota.

VWW wheels look good, but they will be heavier than the BBS. I also think VWW are cast, not forged, which means they are not as strong as teh BBS units, if that is the case.

I think it's going to be a set of 17x9 and 17x10.5 BBS RS set. Something I can build up on my own. Here is what I'm going for... Minus the RX7 lol They will look good with a 315/35.

I dont like the stretched tires on the RX. Fender clearance won't be an issue with a set of wheels built specifically for the car.

I've got a set of 17" BBS LM on my GTI. I love the build, looks and heritage of the BBS wheels. I had to get them redrilled, custom rings, get the lips polished and split/retorque the faces back on.

I've seen too many on E39s, it kinda ruins it for me. I just don't know about the Plymouth Euro-Runner look.

But you didn't ask either, so go for it!

I would powdercoat them SG Black with just polished bolts. I think it would look pretty sneaky.

Nothing says "sneaky" like a Hemi Orange Road Runner with a 6-pack hood.
Black would look good.

Mesh style wheels don't look too bad on old mopars. Heck, so many stock bodied competition cars use them now days, they aren't exclusive to the import scene any more.

Good example here on an E body.

European inspired American muscle car. With a modern Hemi, an upgraded suspension, and a some light racing wheels, I don't think it would look or perform that bad. Especially if the wheel centers are black. I say, go for it!

Not too shabby, Alex is going to need the $30 Pep Boys speaker system to get on his level however.

I've got Pioneer 6x9's from wally world wired directly to a $100 Alpine CD player from 2002.

Does that count?

I'll just leave this here:

I want the same theme. I could just get CCW's

That's one of my favorite Demon's. Those CCW wheels used to be the cheapest 3-piece wheels you will find anywhere (granted you leave them polished because adding paint to it cost more money). I looked yesterday and they took out the race version of those specific wheels and now the price is higher. But overall, CCW's prices seem to be the best if you are looking for a lightweight or 3-piece wheel.

I'm very familiar with CCW. I've got a few friends with them on VW's.

I would get the street version and have them coated locally.

When I get my next car, I am probably going to put in the money and get one of their wheels. I like a lot of their wheels and there price isn't too bad to boot for what you are getting.
