I'm trying to determine the correct style spare wheel, seems to be some conflicting info out there & I'm hoping someone knows the answer & can help me.

On a '70 Charger equipped with 15" x 7" Rallye wheels, would the car have a 15" x 7" Rallye wheel as a spare, or a 15x7 stamped steel wheel?
I know on a 14" road wheel equipped car it would have a 14" steel wheel.

Some are saying 15" Rallye wheel, others are saying 15" steel wheel.
Is it a build date issue perhaps? Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks!

I know it isn't the same car but both '70 Superbirds that I restored came with rallies from the factory and both cars also still had their original spare intact. Both were steel wheels.

Ironic; surely the use of a steel wheel on a rallye wheel equipped car was done for cost savings and now, 40 years later, the 450 steel wheels are worth substantially more than the rallyes!

Bill,...I've never seen a rallye or road wheel car have anything but a "steelie" for a spare 14" or 15"

Where do you think most people got there 450 steelies? By buying people's spare tires.

So.... if your car came with hubcaps then would the car have "450" wheels all the way around or was the "450" strictly a spare only?

Gentlemen, thank you!

A "450" steelie were my thoughts as well, I was very certain.
Not sure where the rallye wheel rumor started, but my thoughts is that is was false.

So.....
Anyone have an extra "450" wheel?
I need one with a mid-'70 (pre-May) date code. Just need one, for a spare. I also have an ad in the Parts Wanted section.
Thx!!

Corndog,

For a B body you would get four body color 450 wheels with dog dish caps and a black 450 spare.

This is how my 70 Hemi GTX is optioned.

For an E body you would get four body color 450 wheels with dog dish caps and a space saver spare.

For a TA Challenger you would get four black 450 wheels with dog dish caps & trim rings and a space saver spare.

Morty

Thanks Morty. Now I'll have to check my stash of wheels to see what all I have.

Not to change any subject, what is this 15 inch spare for 2944169 H in lug area. I think it's a 69 or 70 but not sure. I haven't looked it up any where.
