I recently replaced the timing chain, reseated valves, pushrods, and rocker arms. When everything was back together the engine started with some difficulty. But the problem is it does not idle. The only way it stays running is if i hold the throttle a little bit.

I assume this is due to the distributor not being lined up dead on?
But I am not sure.

Thanks

Time it with a light, and take a good look at vacuum hoses for leaks or cracks.

Check your timing. You'll want at least 12* initial and 36* total. Also check the ballast. You'll want 12v at one side and no less than 9 on the other...AMHIK. I had a similar problem, car wouldn't idle checked everything ended up being a bad ballast. The distrib is either going to be in right or 180* off. Sounds like it's in right.
