I am getting ready to cut the floor out of my 74 cuda to install a 4speed in it. Am I suppose to cut around the front mount in order to use the mount to support the console ,or cut it out and only use the rear mount in order to reinstall the center console in the car.I'm not sure if this would interfere with the transmission and how it fits into the car or if I need the front mount for the console??

Chris,

your just better off cleaning the floor off of all the auto console brackets, place the hump in location, it will position itself on the floor, an ideal situation would be to just mock up the bellhousing, tranny and shifter for an exact location...afterwards locate the console based on were the shifter is located, and weld your brackets where need be, if you mock up the bellhousing/tranny, nows a good time to locate the inner frame bracket for the Z bar, this way you can "fine tune" that location/geomerty exactly as needed....your stock auto tranny crossmember mount will be the same for your 4 spd
