Picked this up a few weeks ago. 70 coronet R/T numbers matching V code 440 6 pack plum crazy auto. The paint and flares (yuck) were done in the early to mid 70s. It had side pipes but they were removed some time ago. Car has sat in storage for the last 20 years. Just thought I would share some pics. Plan on putting it back to Plum Crazy as soon as possible.

Neat: I don't terribly hate the paint and the wheels are okay. I bet you'll enjoy hammering those flares off though.

Cool! If it were me I'd be tempted to put some sidepipes and wide tires back on it and drive it. Very cool car either way.

Heck, if the front is flared as well put some fatter tires up front for a little extra handling.

sweet score you got. if it was in my garage, i'd throw those pipes back on, and then proceed to thrash it to within inches of it's life!! they all get restored, thats a pretty neat looking ride.

that being said, i bet it will look pretty sweet, when you're done with it.

I could have predicted the "leave it alone" comments! Great car (I have an affinity to '70 V code coronets with N96 hoods!) but gawd those flares are hideous!

Do you have a fender tag? ...just curious as to options, where/when it was built, etc.

How were those flares put on? any chance of saving the quarters?

Yeah, the original quarters are there behind the flares. I can look at the fender tag when I go out the garage later. It is a low option car. N96 hood, hood pins, buckets with console, am radio, power brakes and steering. Plum Crazy with a white stripe. If I remeber right it was a St Louis car. Thats about it. Oh this is my moparts account. The posted account is a relative.

I agree to leave it alone, add side pipes, tour it around to some shows for a few years. Then make a decision weather to put back to stock or keep as is. Yes the flares are odd looking but that is some way cooool stuff from back in the day!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off, congrats on the cool find and I'm a bit partial to 1970 PURPLE Coronets!

I wouldn't tear it down right away, as mentioned I'd leave it as is (add the pipes if you can score a set) for this summer/season. Then begin the resto in the fall. That allows you to enjoy your ride for before getting into the resto......

Just my

Bryan

Awesome project! Does it have a Dana? Car looks really clean. I wonder what you'll find under those fender flares.

Thanks guys, these pics were taken on an overcast day. In the sun, this car is nasty. Sooooo much metal flake in the paint it's blinding. Looks like a bass boat. The top coat of clear has a lot of cracks in it too. But from my research the car was painted 30 years ago. So it's held up ok. No Dana jeff968, no axle package was ordered and it's an automatic. Well if the paint is that old, there is hope that it's extremely solid. How's the trunk and dutchman panel?

Sounds like our cars are very similar; HT, 440-6, auto, N96, 8 3/4", PS, PB, R11 radio, etc. ...biggest differences are the color, buckets vs. bench and the fact yours is an R/T and mines a SB.

As a "car warming" gift, I'd offer up a new set of Metro WOM's for when those flares are history.....

The trunk has a little scale in some of the ribs. No holes but it does have some scale. The extensions look great. Here is what I saw after ripping up the carpet. I might take you up on that offer. Also I would love to see of your Bee pics. Take care

OH, that is SOOOOO nice! I'm jealous!

Let me know on the WOM's; they aren't doing me any good - I decided to use the one's from Dale's Cuda shop as they were easier to fit...and I hate selling stuff so giving stuff away to a fellow '70 Coronet owner works for me!

Link to my resto page is at the bottom of my sig. you have to click on "pics" to get to page 2 and just scroll down. I haven't updated it for quite awhile but there are quite a few pictures there.

470bee, this was my Bee i sold a few years ago. Original FK5 burnt orange. Real V-code 440-6, bench 4 speed, super track pak 4:10 Dana. It now lives a mile down the road and is totally restored back to FK5.

Sweet car big-block-dave Ucudant, the interior needs to have the seats recovered due to some funky 70s tuck and roll It's all there though. The car is just about to flip 41,000. And from the guy I talked to who grew up with the car. He says it's original miles. The motor is all numbers matching and hasn't been rebuilt. So it's due. Later
