I've had much better results from the Firm feel stuff. The last one I received, I asked for "no paint", etc., at it looked very near to NOS. Worked awesome, too...Stage 2. I shaker canned it satin clear urethane to retard rust. Rick

I got my power steering gearbox rebuilt by Steer and Gear in 2008. (70 Coronet) So far no problems at all. I got mine rebuilt as Stage I...Having done it, I personally would get the Stage II rebuild next time. But, stage I is still a MASSIVE improvement over stock... Best of luck to you!

We only use Firm Feel stuff here. Last time we didn't use Firm Feel we had a Flaming River fast ratio manual box put into a 66 Dart and absolutely hated it.

I went by the recommendation of one of the posters above, "Rick E". I don't think the parts stores or other rebuilders will give you a precision rebuild. It's a difficult job, and you have to be willing to pay for the "right stuff". The box I got from "Firm Feel" looked beautiful. After installation (and I drive the car), I may have to knock off some very mild oxidation, and clearcoat the gear as mentioned.
Performance of the Firm Feel box is superb, BTW.I also sprung for the "11/16" tie rod kit, pitman arm, and idler arm. Good for another 40 years !

What were the problems with the FR box?

The FR box was super stiff and hard to steer and had a weird on-center feel, just didn't feel right. Only bought it because Firm Feel was temporarily out of the 16:1 manual boxes.
