Got the car back together last week and took it to MIR today to make some test passes on it. Made 4 passes total, the first just driving down the track to make sure nothing fell off the car and the second being a hard pass to the 1/8. Car ran 6.36 in the 1/8, and then 10.033/133 in the 1/4 on the first full pass (also with a 6.36@106). Since it was so close to a 9 that I could taste it, the car immediately went on a 75-lb diet. The results are in the time slip below.
Ran into 440Jim today. He was running some real impressive numbers as always. Almost seems like I could dial his car for him from my house, too.

The fist 9-second pass and an awesome 0.002 RT makes a great timeslip. Congratulations.

Thanks Jim! I'm sure the rustyness will hit me just in time for the first points race, lol. Haven't had as much time as usual to use the practice tree.
Car felt so good I couldn't believe it was on that good of a pass. Just felt like driving my '73 340 challenger to the corner store.
And I agree with those that said the first is always the best.
68shifter, It took a year to cross that barrier. Always stressed going rounds/consistency so this is the first time I've really been able to turn up the wick (I rarely take the lead out because the car doesn't always hook). I can assure you it is well worth the wait.

How does that affect the weight transfer ? the reason i ask, i've just changed my trunk for a fibreglass one and it's taken 42# off.

he can answer better, but I think it helps with traction and was keeping him in the 10's. Kev and John are very good at getting that car down the track.

Good Job Kevin!

That first Sub 10.00 is always a special pass.

Now, go get that thing certified, get you license and buy all the SFI crap that comes with being a 9 second guy.....

We usually keep 50-100 lbs in the trunk (weight box) to help the car hook on marginal tracks. I didn't think we had 100 in the box, so when we opened it we took 75 out for the 9 sec pass. MIR had good traction that day, so it hooked well.

In NSS, we have to run on the 0.10 index, so we add/subtract weight from the box if we are in the middle of the bracket.

If your car hooks OK with the steel lid, removing 42 lbs shouldn't affect traction.

I don't think he will get a license as we plan to keep it in the 10's. He just wanted that 9 sec time slip to frame. The chassis was updated over the winter and will certify to 8.50's; we may have it certified (just to have it done) if it is convienent.
