Fuel sender size is generally the same as your fuel pump inlet/outlet size. A 318 should always be 5/16, I would think. Big blocks got the 3/8 ones.

I believe 383HP cars used 5/16" inch fuel line as well.
I recently bought my 5/16" fuel sending unit from AMS Obsolete's eBay store, in which it's supposed to be an OEM unit. Note that the unit I got has a brass float and not the plastic one as pictured - http://www.ebay.com/itm/150296871944
On a side note, Dwayne Porter is on the record for saying he's ran mid 10 second ETs with 5/16" inch fuel line and a 448CI engine.
