Well the time has come to make a trip out to Wisconsin to bring back the new engine for Diablo!!

After a long time of researching about which direction to go with Diablo's next engine we decided to go with a 5 inch Bore space Hemi engine. Goodwin built and put the engine together.

I'll be back home with the engine wend/Thurs. But until then maybe some of you would like to give a good guess on what numbers it is going to make!

Here is some of the info I can give you right now.

650ci
5 inch BS prostock heads done by Goodwin.
5 inch BS Donovon Block
4.750 Bore
60mm Cam. Over an inch lift.
Two Quickfuel Carbs on C16.


When I get the engine home i'll post a bunch of pictures and some more info!

Judging what I've heard of the 500ci stuff, I'd guess 1520. Very cool Diablo, go smoke them Chevies.

Seems to me that a real effecient N/A race motor out to make between 2.25 and 2.35 HP per C.I. 650x 2.25+ 1463 HP

I only live 30 miles from Goodwin Competitiom Engines. I love going down there and seeing the engines they build.
Todd builds some pretty crazy high end stuff.

Very nice, my guess is 1430 hp.1070 tq.

Hopefully enough I would think 1450+ is likely, more interested to hear at what RPM it peaks at. From what I have seen it will likely still be up there a good bit. But for what you do that is likely what you want.

Sorry for the wait! The trip went very well but we got delayed 6 hours waiting for a part in Detroit. (not for the engine but sonething else) I'm on the road and still have 9 hours till home. Once I get home I'll post pics and info and dyno sheet:) she is a pretty engine!!!

Fred, you should know more then most, when you get to the higher end of things and people want to win the more aftermarket high end parts are used.

Look at most big money class pull trucks from the underside, how much is still mopar/chevy/ford????

When it gets to that point, the mopar body on the chassis is flying the flag and thats all that counts.

Same could be said with Jimmys awsome dart, take the dart body off and what is it? But its still a dart by proxy. And is still supported by the mopar world, why shouldnt it be????

Look at nascar, alot of the same design with diff valve covers...

In this case its a no brainer, He wants to win.....
