My niece took her Magnum in for an oil change and they ended up telling her the car needs $1300 dollars in repairs.

They said she needs brake work and said both outer tie rod ends can break anytime, need replaced now. I drove it and looked at the tie rod ends yeterday. It has 51k and drives great (first time I drove one- really drives nice).

With the car on the ground you can grab the tie rod and it will twist (spin) by hand. The joint seems tight. Is this normal on these cars?

I believe the shop is trying to scare a 21 yo girl into over paying for repairs.

Any thoughts on the way the tie rod ends should feel and how long they should last?

jack each wheel up and ck for wear in the tie rod joint, common issues in the LH cars

I can have both outers changed in under an hour just to give you an idea

Thanks for the info gtx6970. I'll have to have her run it out here when I can get it on the jack.
