66 charger rear spoiler ??? #1203448

My charger was last on road in 74 it has a rear spoiler under the spoiler nice shiney silver like new but its not glass or plastic its Alum wtf can any 1 enlighten me on this thanx

It's an extruded aluminum spoiler, it was only installed on 426 HEMI equipped cars, although I'm sure some dealers may have installed them on lesser equipped Chargers if their owners requested it, it was offered only so that it could be sanctioned for NASCAR use on the factory racecars as the fastback was getting light in the rear at speeds...repros are available from several sources like YEAR ONE, ACME restoration products....

Yes, if yours has been on there since at least '74, it's probably an original and worth some cash. Repops are/were available. I have one on mine.

It was introduced in late '66 and into '67.

Wow I thought there was an issue when i pulled it off never heard of mopar making a spoiler out of alum . I read an article that the 66 charger was the 1 st U S car to have a spoiler . thanx again every 1.
