I had a guy put me on the trailer at MIR's mopar meet in November. He had .005 bulb and ran 8.126 on a 8.12 dial. Pretty hard to beat with an under dial and playing on top end.

So is every "wap" of the throttle down track about a hundredth or so off your ET??

Thats really hard to figure... I can let off the
throttle and if the rpm is below the stall point
of the conv it wont hardly slow down... I have to
hit the brakes to make an noticeable change

That's kinda what I thought...I was just curious. I'm not a throttle jockey, I just dial it tight and cut a light...just interesting to see how some folks do it.

I laugh at every guy who says this " The guy who cuts a better light and runs closer to the dial will beat a sand bagger every time" ARE YOU SERIOUS...I didn't know that!?!?!? I guess I better go .00 and run on my dial everytime like you guys! Get real!!!

I normally hold a hundreth on a quicker car...two on a car I'm chasing. If the Crew Chief Pro has been "on" thru eliminations then I might dial straight up on a quicker car. It all depends on the situation. For me, I just feel that I can confidently cut a raceable light that the small .01 or .02 is all I need to trailer an opponent. I normally shoot for .015 on the tree and if I am amped up it might be a .00X light and if I am slow it might be a low .02X light. The percentages are still in my favor. Just take a look at some of the winning packages in your National Dragster some time. Sometimes the event winner has a round or two that their package is .04 or worse. Most people know that "we" (the Smith's) don't play alot of these games at the track and the results speak for themselves.

and just because they are sawing like that doent mean that they are holding a bunch..they could only be holding .01 or .02... if they are treeing the other guy... its just making the race tight.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0UH88Kgx0o just like this i was .008 to him and wasnt getting there and i still blapped it. and the extra blap is just me i always do it when i win.

Personnaly I have never had in luck "whompin" the throttle or lifting, it just does not seem to kill a whole lot of ET. I usually bag around .01 in the quarter and drag the brakes and it seems to work better for me, but everyone is different.

SHOCKING NEW DEVELOPMENT!!!!!!!!
the driver who runs a tighter package, WILL WIN!
it doesn't matter how it's done. shocking, yes. and if i'm gonna take the stripe, i dump and take it by as little as possible. my reign as "breakout king", has ended. nothing worse than being beaten by your own car.

for what is the good life if not doing things thoughtfully?

I'm one of those predictable racers(cut a light and run the number). I have been loaded by a "sand bagger" or two, and vise versa. The one thing that I've noticed is that every good sand bagger can flat cut a light. That is how there program works. If they can beat you at the tree, they have room to work with at the stripe. If they don't hit the tree, and there racing a consitant good racer, it's usually over. I get a kick out of unskilled racers that think that they can just dial soft and make up for there reaction time against a racer that will put a package together that is better than there reaction time only. I think that both meathods work well. As long as you can consintantly cut a good light you and use a system that you are good at, you will win your share of races.

The key is knowing when to give up the stripe.
