I can't believe that no one has responded to this yet... what a great video...

I expected a bunch of old farts to get on here and tell you that you need to drive your own race and not worry about the finish line... lol

We'll see how good you drive the finish line this year Nick. I plan on pushing your Whompin A$$ under at the stripe with a big MPH turbo push...

Speaking of that... I need to get out to the garage...

Okay MrMopar you hooked me. That is a good video and it is a sound I hate at the track. Yes I am the "Old Timer" you were fishing for Back in the days I started racing (1961) you did not lift your foot off the floor till passed the finish line even it you didn't see the other guys fender. Notice that these are young guys racing and they have learned this type of racing well. I see it all the time in the staging lane a young guy counts cars and there is this "Old Timer" and they change their dial-in, soft, at the top end they begin putting on brakes or lifting on and off the accelerator and the old guy breaks out. Old guy trick is to know your car, dial a number, and know where to slightly lift, if you can make your right foot do it. If the on off the pedal guy has been hanging out in the pits during time runs, usually two, and not know what the car ran vs what is on the window you can win. I enjoyed the tape and I enjoy seeing all of the young people carrying on the sport. Good luck.

Me being a bracket racer i know if you can't cut a light Then you have to run a break out number. When you run a break out number you have to hope that playing with the throttle at the stripe will give you a win. Also to be a good bracket racer you have to be good at both ends of the track.

If the other guy cuts a better light and runs close to his dial in....you will have the rest of the day to play with the throttle in the pits...

You guys kill me... you think the guys that can drive the finish line can't cut a light? It's not like the starting line isn't important in our lane as it is to you.

Look at it this way. If you cut a good light, and the car doesn't run the number you loose.

If I cut a good light, and the car won't run the number, I'll still be ok because I dialed soft and have something to work with.

I have no idea why you wouldn't want to use that?

Enjoyed the video But I don't (can't?) race like that. We usually dial the car tight, +.01, and hope to cut a good light. Only way I can "Whomp" the throttle is if the other guy or gal is off the dial or has a slower reaction, I usually just ease off a little. Doesn't happen a lot to me I'm usually the guy in the other lane getting "whomped"

If I remember correctly you learned the finish line from an "Old Fart"

Its all just a different strategy. the guy who's on/off the throttle, trying to take the stripe by just a fender, will loose to the guy who ran his dial
