When the brand X competition ran them in their cars they voted it best engine for us....the Hemi

The Ford boys would talk smack and I'd ask em if Alderman ran a Ford engine John Force had a version of the Hemi ...then they commence to tell you how it's not a Mopar engine. Same basic design no? I might have been wrong but let them prove it
This one says wedge

Good thread ...

I do like a B1 motor. They are simple and make gobs of horsepower.
"one" of the best mopar engines, imo.

I dont know about the "ultimate" Mopar engine but in my opinion a GOOD B1 engine will make very good power and is relatively simple change. Never habe figured out why there are not more of them out there.

Oh yeah the 99 Hemi is kinda cool too

To me it would depend on its intended purpose...(class-racing, head-up, etc) Because I've seen an 'ultimate' rotary engine too so, I'm just saying perception is relative for me anyway. But, if your fishing for ideas/opinions for your next Head-up engine because you want to be competetive then ( ) I would use an engine designed/engineered for racing with the foundation to seal and integrity to live at higher power levels and lastly used commonly enough that you can get a variety of parts for...e.g.- R3 W?, PS Hemi, R5.

It's interesting to read all of the responses.

I would expect for the vast majority of people to list
Hemi99
P5 small block hemis
W8-w9
BAE/Alan Johnson blown hemis
R5p7s

I've already began that process of the new build for the car Shawn, I was just more interested in what this site feels to be "ultimate"

I'll stick with it being this one. At least with a naturally aspirated set up. Hard to beat a blown Hemi..The block and heads have Mopar part numbers...

#1--DEFBOBS picture of the twin turbo hemi
#2 --the "sonnys" motor
#3------------mine--and it is NOT for sale--i just freshened it up from BES AND-- i just paid it all off.
i feel the "ultimate" in these days--would be a 525 plus cube mild built twin turbo --would be the ticket----drivibility and performance is the key,you would have both with the "twins".

That sonnys engine is a ford based engine from what I have read up onit. His "hemi" head is nothing hemi except for plug location, and thats a stretch. Its a canted head design. Its a HELL of an engine, and should be for the price tag. Id love to stick one of those in a 4x4 lumber wagon. Hoe cool would that be to cruise up to the local wood pile, and say "I better check the oil on this ol girl" to your buddies, and open the hood to that beast!

Hemi 99 or P5 small block! I would like to see what a max effort P7 headed engine would do also!

Me and my buddy Tom thought up this one - Stage 5 Hemi set up on a 400 block w/383 crank. Naturally with good rods and pistons, lots o compression and a big solid roller. Haven't thought out an induction system - maybe a SS/AH style sheet metal.
