tranny numbers decode help #1202158

Can any 1 help decode these numbers on tranny rail the engine and trans are replacements engine is 69 383 hp ( 9A278203 ) trans numbers i found are PK289 093L 1490 am i missing numbers do these make sence to any 1 thanx

You are missing a couple of numbers....

PK = transmission assembly plant

289 2 093 = Part number for automatic transmission behind a late 68 model year or 69 383/440

L = appears to indicate an 'interim' part per TSB D68-21-3 TSB on Hamtramck Historical

the next four numbers = assembly date listed by a 10,000 day calendar date. The VIN is consistent with cars with an SPD of around 5/21 so if this transmission came with the engine, the transmission assembly date should be something that probably starts with 28XX.

followed by four digits indicating that specific transmission assembly number on that date.

yes on the same pad there is a 5 13 looks like u guys are right again and yes on the rail there is a faint # 2 so number reads pk2892093L assuming there wasnt a vin on tranny in 69 ? thanks for lettin me pic ur brains take care...

Yes. If it's a 69 model year transmission, there should be a VIN stamped on a pad on the passenger's side of the transmission. If it came out of a 68 model year car, there could be a VIN stamped on the upper center portion of the bell housing.
