PK289 093L 1490 am i missing numbers
You are missing a couple of numbers....
PK = transmission assembly plant
289 2 093 = Part number for automatic transmission behind a late 68 model year or 69 383/440
L = appears to indicate an 'interim' part per TSB D68-21-3 TSB on Hamtramck Historical
the next four numbers = assembly date listed by a 10,000 day calendar date. The VIN is consistent with cars with an SPD of around 5/21 so if this transmission came with the engine, the transmission assembly date should be something that probably starts with 28XX.
followed by four digits indicating that specific transmission assembly number on that date.

assuming there wasnt a vin on tranny in 69....
Yes. If it's a 69 model year transmission, there should be a VIN stamped on a pad on the passenger's side of the transmission. If it came out of a 68 model year car, there could be a VIN stamped on the upper center portion of the bell housing.
