Didn't see anything posted on this yet, so hopefully its not a repeat... I was over at local fab shop on Wednesday and happened to see another mopar racer. He told me he had attended a meeting last week where they're proposing a new 1/4 mile dragstrip in on a 60 acre site in Perris, CA. He said the mayor and city council are 100% in support of the project and a local Moreno Vally racer, who is also a local politician and is running for state office. Anyway, I took it with a grain of salt, but starting looking around on the net. I found the below on a classic funnycar site and they said they found it on the PSCA site. Anyway, it jives exactly with what my friend told me.... Quote:
"We had a general meeting today in Moreno Valley, CA with Bill Batey who is a City Councilman for Moreno Valley and an avid Drag Racer.
He has filed paperwork to establish a Non-Profit Group To purchase a piece of land in Riverside County to build a Premanent Drag Strip. Location has been found, and details of the purchase of the land are being negotiated. The Property is reportedly around 60 acres with enough length to run a 1/4 mile strip. The surrounding area is designated as Industrial Use Only. Location will be revealed when details of the purchase are completed, this is to protect us from losing the land.
The Group will be called Inland Empire Drag Racing Association They will run the facility as a non Profit, so Racing can be a tax deduction!!! All money's made will go to the facility to make it better.
Mr. Batey, Who is also currently campaigning to for California Assemblyman, has been talking with the city of Perris and Moreno Valley for gettin approval of this property to be used as a Racing Facility. Both Cities are on board to help us make this happen.
The group started organizing to get the following done: Complete the Non Profit Status General Plans Drawn up ( a local Engineer Racer is doing them) Establish a Web Site and Facebook page for updates on the Group and the facility Campaign to get donations for the Purchase of the land and for construction Appointed members to organize the finacials, Web Design and organize the construction porcess.
If you would like more information at this time Please Go To: Save our Drag Strips! on Facebook. A Website will be up, hopefully in the next 2 weeks for the group/track.
If you would like to Join the group or Donate you can also Get a hold of Bill Batey on Facebook: Batey Racing
All Racers, Jr Racers and Business's are welcome to help.
If you know contractors or Business that would like to donate time, money, Products please get ahold of Bill Batey: Bateyracing@gmail.com
Remember this is a NoN Profit Group!!!! That means all donations are tax deductible!!!"

All of a sudden there people wanting to build races tracks?
Saw a layout today for a 1/8 mi drag, oval track, and motocross track in Lompoc, CA next to the airport.
Then there is another group working on a 1/4 mile dragstrip in Santa Maria.
If they both get built, they better work together.
It seems to me that Lompoc and Santa Maria used to have tracks a long time ago, back in the early 60 or late 50s Maybe it was one and the same track
Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)
