So I'm removing my dash pads, radio, etc, etc, so I can repaint the dash in the dart.

I cant seem to get the knob off the headlight switch.
Am I missing something ? The knob should just pull off right ? I know to remove the switch you unscrew the chrome bezel at the base, but the knob has to come off first.

There is no setscrew in the knob that I can see, and I've pulled on it as hard as I dare and it wont come off. I'm worried about damageing the switch if I pull any harder.

Any ideas ?

somewhere towards the back of the switch there is a small button, you have to push it down while pulling on the knob.

It is a small metal button on the side.

Small spring loaded button located lined up with the shaft of the knob, located on the switch side of the dash.Pull headlight switch on fully, depress the little button, push in slightly to release pressure, and knob and shaft will pull out.
Replacement? Shove the knob/shaft in.
When you get the knob/shaft assy out you will see the groove in the end that holds it in place.

Got it, thanks again. I never would have thought to look on on the side of the switch for a majic button. But that did it.
