About 3 times a year, if no problems happen. One in beginning of season, once in the middle of the season, and one in the fall shortly before I but it away.

With my old 340 I would change it twice a season, or about every 125 passes. Once at the beginning and once about half way through. Mild Hydraulic cam I never had an issue. If you have a more agressive solid cam you should probably do it more than that, not worth the risk.

When it gets dirty. Not really around 25 passes

FWIW,
Many factors can change this.

I put new oil in at the beginning of the season. Then after 3 months and 80 passes. Some years that is 3 oil fills (200 passes) and some only 2 oil fills (150 passes).

Then I put new oil in to store it over the winter.

Every spring, right before racing season begins.

Always at the start of the season and then, when the oil starts to get dark. Which usually means about 3/4 way thru the season.

I change oil every 50 passes. I save the oil and put in the 318 in my 150,000 mile 86 Dodge Ram 150, then run it for 4,000 miles.

I change the oil every 40 runs in the 340. Often that is five times a year and I always store the engine (for the winter) with fresh oil in it. I use Castrol Synthetic 5W-30 oil in the engine.

I go through 18 quarts per run, it's too diluted with fuel to run it again most times. Sometimes we run it twice, but not often.
Between oil changes and gas to clean parts, I can fill a 55 gallon waste drum about 1/2 way on a good weekend.

In the big tire car we change it about avery 25-30 passes, just depends on when that happens. Never change it during a race always after so the number vaaries. Always still looks new but oil is cheap, well relatively.

In the small tire car we change it after every race. So that has been every 4-6 passes so far. Hopefully we can figure out a way to stretch that to 8 soon

However keep in mind these are both kinda high powered all motor race engines. If it were a mild solid cam type deal I would be on a much less regimented shcedule.

As needed, OR...
as common sense says it's time to.
