Hey, thanks for looking -

Do you know of a source or part number can I turn to for a correctly-fitting MC for my all drum manual brake Satellite? It happens to be a '65 I'm converting to a dual circuit. Ideally I'd like a match to replace the MC in the photos below - cast part #2660809 - I think it's a Bendix. A Google search didn't give me clear results. Or, are there reliable rebuild kits that will let me reuse this one? I see YearOne has a kit but I trust NO supplier unless you guys vouch for it.

BACKGROUND:
I know parts store MC's are iffy, so I bought three new reman MC's to see if one would fit. None of them would install because the bolt holes were too large to accept the press-fit studs and the cup in the MC's plunger is so large that the pushrod won't "snap in" and stay in place. @#^%@$@!!

All three MC's were the same crap:
- AutoZone parts #10-1323P and 13-1323M (I know the P was for power brakes, but we were willing to try anything).
- NAPA #P1874.

Thanks,
-Art

I'm sorry - one more question:

Is it normal for an MC (without the cover on) to shoot a jet of brake fluid straight up out of the front reservoir (R circuit) when you press the brake pedal down?

I don't recognize that master cylinder.
it is too shallow I think.

yes about the squirt of fluid. that happens.

so 2 things. you could just get new studs to press in, and perhaps you don't have enough force to lock in the rod?

but I think people were use like 68 c-body master cylinders to swap out, not b's? but not sure.

I went to power brakes on my 65, and used the master power brake conversion instead of keeping them manual.

switched my 65 sat over in 1990 and used a master from a manual drum 68 roadrunner - It looks exactly like the one in your photo..

I tried to find another one for another 65 that I just picked up, also manual drum.

Lets just say .... It ain't as easy.

Lots of part store generic shaped ones out there -they are just a general casting, and the mopar lid will not fit.

I went to 6 stores with no luck - even rock auto

I eventually went to the distribution warehouse and searched thru all the rebuilts until I found one with a pentastar on it. Flipped the guy at the counter a extra $10 for letting me do it.

The lid was still incorrect but I had a old one I bought at a swap meet years ago.

Happy Hunting !

Art,...the only rebuild kit I see for that master, available from Autozone, NAPA, etc that carries Duralast products is this pn# 22802 $29

Only 2 things I can offer you Art in the way of help,....is that NAPA has an offering, but listed as a "power" application, shouldn't matter IMHO, but is 4 wheel drum app.

....the other alternative is to contact Moparts Member B54406barrel, he has about 1/2 dozen or so of these masters (used), perhaps he may part with one?

Thanks Andrew, SuperGas and Mike,
At least you all confirm that they're out there and I can solve this if I keep trying hard enough. I found an old issue of MAction with a conversion from 1 to 2 circuit MC's. In the article, R.Ehrenberg lists a few other MC's that should fit.

Thanks for all the info Mike, super helpful!

That NAPA part in the image above is exactly what I bought from NAPA years ago. That same parts #1874 is still in use, but is now "too generic" and has the wrong bolt hole size and plunger size for my needs. I'll contact B54406barrel see what he says. Thanks again guys!
