Has anyone out there ever run this tire on a 71 scamp or dart with the springs moved in line with the frame rails? The springs wont even be a factor. I have the complete width of the factory wheel tubs to work with. They are 12 inches wide. I think I will have about 1/2 inch of clearence on each side if it is centered correctly. Will that be enough clearence? Any picks would be appreciated.

You should be perfectly fine. Lot's of guys with 17-18" wheels run the same overall tire dimensions. FWIW I have a friend with 245/60/15's on his 71 Demon. It just has SS springs and adjustable shocks. He only get's a little rubbing when going over huge bumps.

The key would be getting the correct offset on the rim. It should fit, but you could have a rub problem with the car loaded going over bumps. You might want to ask this question over on For A Bodies Only. The A's get more love over there

Can you even get 275/50x15 tires on an ongoing basis to make this set up viable in the long run?

Dont know. Good food for thought though. Maybe a 275/60r15 would be better if it will fit.
