Not sure about '69, but my '67 Belvedere, slant-6/3-spd has a 7-1/4.

'69 was the first year for the 8 1/4" but they were mostly used behind small V8's (318, 383-2). The 7 1/4" is more likely to be found in a /6 car.

Sure grip is interchangable for all 8-3/4s. Bearings for the SG are different between cone and clutch type but it's the ID that's different, they're the same as far as the case goes. I took one from a 741 and put it in a different case. Still have the case and gears from the 741, should probably scrap it.
