my heads are ported and polished and are suppose to flow 250cfm at .500 lift on a 440,cast heads

You don't say anything else about the heads so all I can say is for a Slant 6 that would be pretty good and for a 426 Hemi that would totally suck.

That is very comparable to other 440 Mopar BB iron heads that had similar work that where flowed on a Super Flow 600 bench at 28 inches of water
