But it seems no Drive. It feels like nothing in drive, but if I put it in first it goes in and when I shift to second it goes in and when I shift to drive it feels like neutral. Any ideas as to what is up?

I will do that, but the headers are too hot right now. Just wondering if it could be anything else while I'm waiting.

I've been thinking, this is on a 72 Cuda. When I got to the point of putting the rod between the floor shifter and the arm on the tranny I wasn't sure if the part that had the adjustment on it went on the shifter part or the tranny arm. I have it on the shifter arm, any thoughts?

Linkage is ok, fluid is ok. I have reverse and low gear. Now when I go from 1st to 2nd there seems to be no shift and the same into 3rd. This is with wheels of the ground on lift. There is a slight increase in speed from 1st to 2nd but only 4 or 5 MPH. Please help as I would like to take it out.

If it won't move forward in Drive but will move in manual Low the overrunning clutch (sprag) has failed.

I put it on the floor, and reverse works fine. I put it in any forward gear and it seems like it's slipping but when I rev the engine it grabs kinda hard. This is only in the garage moving about 10 feet.

Check your fluid level.

edit: missed that. filter may be dirty.

This is a new rebuild using low gear set, 4 planetary set from a donor tranny. New filter and fluid is ok. This is my first build.

Wasn't aware of that. I am watching this as I am getting ready to do mine shortly. I have everything (I hope) so it should be long now.
I've done GM TH350 and this will be my first mopar. Anything to look out for, or special tools I may need? I have the ATSG book.

If it's a fresh trans you might have assembled the sprag backwards i.e. the springs on the wrong side of the rollers.

Would that cause the symptoms I have?

Yes. And never judge the shifts with the rear wheels in the air.

The pic below shows a properly assembled sprag, if the position of the springs and rollers is reversed the sprag won't hold in Drive.

In manual 1st and reverse the band holds that drum, in drive only the roller clutch holds it so if you put the springs and rollers in wrong nothing is holding it in drive so you go nowhere. Don't rev it real hard trying to get it to go you will make things worse pull it back out and fix it, john is probably right
