OHIO, USA	I've never seen a '69 AXLE HOUSING that wasn't painted black....THE DIFFERENTIAL CASE IS CAST COLOR or natural/bare casting EDIT: Sorry I was thinking axle housing and not the differential and they ARE CAST or natural again sorry Last edited by A12; 03/14/12 12:13 PM.

69Chrgr OP enthusiast 6 Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 267 New Jersey	The restoration book says they were painted black, but everytime I ask a qusetion about that book Im told there are alot of wrong things in the book, my centersection is just rust with a splotch of orange paint on the bottom, so I am coming to the conclusion that most are satin black? How many miles on tha tcar ? pictures ? I have only ever seen rear chucks with light rust , was the paint they used that bad that it would burn/flake off where the paint on a axle hosing would last a lot longer ?

70440+6bbl master 7 Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 5,268 NY	My '69 Dart Swinger is untouched and the case is very obviously bare metal, while the housing is black... After owning many cars, I have yet to see a factory black differential case, but I haven't seen them all
