Wafflebatter and I have been racing together for better than a decade. We have each had two different cars and have been close in ET with both for years each faster than the other at points.

Well this year for various reasons both of us are stepping things up a bit.

The stats:

Wafflebatter-
27 Aero T Roadster..421 SBC.. 14-1..227 AFR's CNC ported...AED 1000cfm... .680 roller cam...Jesel 1.6's..UCC 5800 converter...glide...4.56's...approx race weight 1800#

Previous best... 1/8th- 5.52@123...with me driving..cough...cough 1/4-?...maybe Doug will chime in. Best 60ft. 1.18.

The Arrow-

499 lowdeck...12.5-1..CNC ported SR's...650 Comp...Harland Sharp 1.5's...850 Ray Murray...UCC 5400 converter...glide...4.56's...approx race weight 2275#

Previous best... 1/8th 5.65@121 1/4 9.04@149..this was at two different tracks. Best 60ft 1.23.

So...one of my winter changes is going to 4 wheel disc from MustangII and Dana drum..I feel this will free up both weight and major rolling resistance.

So any guesses?....I'm thinking if I to alcohol and maybe a roller cam I might stand a chance. I figure he will be close to a 5.20 1/8th mile ride with the weight loss going from his iron heads to the AFR's...and the bigger roller. I'm gaining better than a point of compression and ported heads. Also the brake change.....Watchcha guys think?...I think I might see 5.40's.

5.53 @ 125 1/8th on the launch control..more left in her!

I honestly don't think the brake upgrade will make it any faster. I thought drums actually roll easier because the shoes get retracted by the springs. Although I think the brakes are a good upgrade as rotating weigh reduction, I don't see it worth a lot of ET. Now a roller cam and alky might get you a little bit.

You car seems to pull real good to the 1/8 and then peter out, not sure what's going on there? Seems like there are a couple of tenths in a 1/4? Picking up 2/10's in the eighth at your ET is not going to be small changes..

Did not see the ported heads are new for next year the first time I read it! That should help a bunch with a properly matched roller to go with the new heads.

You have your work cut out for you, since you weigh almost 500 lbs more than his ride.

I think the porting, etc. will make nice gains.
The idea of alky is a good one. Especially with the price of race gas.

Eric, I have a buddy that runs a very similar set up to your's, only his in a Omni/Charger and has a Dominator on it. He runs 5.50s only turning it 6200. He made the switch to alchol two years ago and said it was like a different car. I forget what it picked up but most of it was in the 60'.

Lightweight car, low on power, a lot of gear, etc…

On the 9.04 pass it ran 5.75 in the 1/8th ....

5.75 x 1.5723 = 9.0407.....

That is more inline, I assumed both times were from the same run

Sure, but a 1.23 60’ is really good for a low 9 sec car!

Eric,
You should mention that your old combo was a pump gas low compression dished piston with 75cc unported SRs.

If you decide on going to alcohol you may want to crank that compression up some to take advantage of running it. Crank it up to 15-1 and she'll love it. Who's cnc program are you going with and what are your before and after numbers. I have a nice 690 lift roller sitting here that you are welcome to try if you want to. Are you going with the Indy intake?

Alky's cheaper than pump gas

I think 5.20's will be stretching it for my ride, maybe we should just have a heads up race to see if you go the alky route, then I guess I will have to follow suit
