What has to be changed to use a 440 motor home engine in a car application?

I would suspect some things such as oil pan sump location, water pump outlet, motor mounts, fan type and distance to radiator, a/c and associated brackets and pulleys. Maybe even some wiring harness issues as there will be differences. dip stick and tube. exhaust manifolds. for a start.

All I ever use is the block and some tin from the trucks and motorhomes.

I had a 70 Barracuda with a 73 440 from a motor home. 213 heads, water exit on wrong side, headers. Low compression with MP 280 474 cam. Ran well, a 13.18 @104 in fact.

It depends on what year motorhome, internal or external balanced, oil pan and pick up, motor mounts, maybe the exhaust manifolds and radaitor or swap your car water pump onto the motor home motor Maybe more If so, I can't remember what If internal balanced then the converter needs to be non external balanced, if external balanced then the converter balance needs to match the motor IHTHs

A young lad wants to buy it for a 66 Coronet project was a 318 car, I didn't want to burst his bubble. Seems he will need another 440 for all the parts

the motor home engins that I have seen are basicly just like anyother 440 like the first post says. The 413 Ind MH engines are the redheaded stepchild when it comes to converting to auto/car use.

I am truckless..

Most "motorhome" 440's have passenger car style cylinder heads. ALL post 71 440's need new pistons to make decent compression. And the 66-71 440's didn't make very good compression either.

I scored a 78 400 from a RV. It had "452" style heads, very common, used on ALL big blocks back then. Great donar block for a stroker.
