It's great these days to have all kinds of suspension, engine, trans, etc upgrades to make our old cars behave better. But there is one area where the old cars still fall way short. I would like to be able to drive my car in the rain, or go through an automatic car wash with NO leaks. And how about all those rattles... What kind of tips and tricks do you guys have to make the interior more livable?

Quiet cost money and time, but it can be well worth it. Modern insulation and sound proofing techniques, fresh seals, tracking down any components that rattle, resonate and knock; it's amazing how much some well spent time and money can acomplish.
How much time and money depends on how quiet do you want it to be. I put less than $500 worth of sound "reducing" materials into my 1970 ebody, plus the seals etc, and it's quieter than a lot of new luxury cars.
There is a limit though. The airflow and it's noisey turbulence around the car are somewhat fixed due to the design. The quieter the interior becomes, the more you hear the wind noise coming from just outside the windows etc.

Noise reduction has become VERY important to the OEMs. Look at the new Challenger for example. There are seals between the door and fender! I'm sure that this was an effort to reduce wind noise.
You beat me to it - my 2012 SRT8 Charger has those seals - never saw that before. Near zero wind noise in the car and it has the added benefit of keeping the door hinge area a lot cleaner. I've been thinking about how can i incorporate that into my 70 Charger

I'd suspect that you could get a roll of a similar material and attach it to the back side of the door skin.....

A combo of Dynamat Extreme and "The Insulator" from Aircraft Spruce makes a huge difference. Remember, with Dynamat you don't necessarily have to cover the entire surface to get the panel resonnation to deaden. Using less saves time, weight and $, but still gives you excellent panel dampning.

It's not the air filled foil you get at the Home stores, but a foil covered blanket sold for aircraft insulation at Aircraft Spruce called "The Insulator. It's great stuff, easy to work with and works better and cost less than anything I've seen for automotive use.
