I just bought the same headers to install into my 74 cuda with a 440 4 speed.Did you install these into a ebody? And what issues are you having with them? I was between these and the hooker competion.I had seen these at a car show installed in a cuda with a 440 and it looked as if it cleared everything. Thanks for any info you could give!

You get what you pay for with headers , I would send them back and get another set , take better pictures and send them to the seller and hopefully they send a call tag and pay the shipping .

Is the engine a B or RB , what body ?

72 Challenger with a 440 and this is the dry fit. I can get them to work but I was looking for information prior to purchasing so I thought I would post some pictures for others.

The steering knuckle is going to hit, and the trans pan is almost touching the outlet. I don't think the issue with the transmission is going to be a problem, but I will definatly have to tweak the drivers side to clear. Hope this helps...

It helps it always a guessing game trying out new things. You might beable to get an aftermarket steering knuckle instead of using the original. I've seen them used not too expensive and easy to get. I was already figuring on using one. And I might have an issue with manual trans clutch gear but I know theres a fix for it. Good luck!!

I will call Jegs in the morning and see what they can do.

When I had the Hedman Elite 1-3/4 headers on my 63 they fit fine. But I had manual steering as I changed from power to manual and used the adapter to make up for the shorter manual shaft which cleared with no problem.
I wonder with factory manual steering if the steering shaft pivot joint would be closer to the steering box and may have touched with the factory manual steering since it has the longer steering shaft. Ron

Not to be rude, but did you bolt them up tight? I'm only saying because I have these headers in a 71 440 Challenger and your problems are opposite of mine. The passenger side fits perfect. The drivers side hit everywhere. I had to ding them for the stock power steering unit, the steering coupler and the torsion bar. I did buy them at least 5 yers ago so maybe they tweaked the design.

I put them on my Pro Street a few years back also a Challenger with 440. They were the best fitting easiest to install headers I've ever used. Also fit great on the 70 Challenger R/T with 383 I put them on last year.

Passenger side

Hedman confirmed that something was wrong with the passenger side. So I have returned them, and Jegs sent me the Hooker 5903 by accident, and you are correct the Hedman do fit the best... I have returned the Hookers and just purchased the Year One manifolds. I gave up at I just can't justify the cost of TTIs, even though the wife was helping me and saw how bad the fits were she gave me the go ahead to get them. In the end it would have saved me about $80 in shipping.

Sorry for the hi jack but I am looking at Hedman Elites for my '67 Belvedere with a small block. Anybody know how well they fit a SB B-Body? How thick are the Elite flanges and does their coating last?

I'm not really concerned about performance. Right now I have a 318 with 340 cam, intake & carb. A 408 stroker MIGHT be in the future for this car but it's just a driver.

I don't mind spending money for a GOOD header if it fits well and lasts. Any other header suggestions?? I don't want to have to ding a pretty header for clearance and I don't have the time or money to try a bunch of different headers.
