I am working on a 69 Dart old race car.

Origional wiring was gone so I put in a replacement---taillights work--backup lights work---stop light switch tests out good --fuel wire pulses as it should but no brake lights.

The car does not have a directional signal switch or column harness--could that be the reason

Yep, that would do it! The turn signals and the stop lights are the same filament...

What Rhino said, The white "out" wire from the brake light sw goes into the TS sw then 2 wires out from the TS sw to the brake light on each rear corner, the large filament in the 1157 bulbs

If you aren't going to have turn signals on the car then you can run a wire from the brake light switch to the rear bulbs.
