Your HP computed from your vehicle ET is 411.91 flywheel HP and 370.72 rear wheel HP. Your HP computed from your vehicle MPH is 412.70 flywheel HP and 371.43 rear wheel HP.
i have never seen numbers this close before. i would slide a new cam in
I take that as the car is ET'n all it can for what HP its making .Is that right or wrong ? This a good or bad thing ???

I appreciate the help guys ,but im not after the obvious .Why would i change the cam just to gain a tenth ? I still have to pull the heads to port them and properly set up the spring height for the new valve springs required. After nearly 200 passes on the motor why would i pull the heads and not rebuild or atleast freshen the lower end as well ? Like i said i know the cam is the bottle neck.Time i pull the heads ,change the cam ,lifters ,and valve springs ,pay for a new valve job ,head gaskets ,pushrods ,intake and exhaust gaskets ,i would proly have a grand in the upgrade .Not really my idea of a cheap gain ,and would be a halfa$$ed (IMO) hop- up.Im after little gains here to make up a tenth ,not a half second...

Is E85 available in your area? If so I picked up about 2-3 tenths and 4 mph in the 1/4 mile over 110 racing fuel. I got my carb from Eric at www.horsepowerinnovations.com. Same fuel system just swapped carbs and fuel.

Been there, done that. A couple of years ago I was running 7.10s and wanted a 6.99 real bad. After trying a lot of different things and spending too much money, I found this out; from where you are at now, in my opinion your 6.99 is in the 60'. Get the car in the high 1.4s and I believe your 6.99 will come along. I believe a cam change alone will net you more mph, but may not change your 60' and therefore your ET won't change much. I could pick up 2 mph and not pick up much 60', so my ET didn't change much. Once I started working on my 60' my ET changed with it. It will probably take a good bit of experimentation to find what will pick up your 60'. Converter, gears, instant center, tires, etc. A lot of different pieces. Granted, more HP like a bigger cam is a good thing, but I don't think you will get to 6.99 with an increase in power alone.
Master, again and still

There are a lot of great suggestions. On the cheapers side of an upgrade, depending on your ignition system, a rock-steady timing Firecore distributor, Firecore coil, and Firecore50 spark plug wires. Your engine will thank you.

Like already mentioned, I think you have the power to do it....and as already mentioned, it needs to 60 foot better......... If the car was a 4-speed, what RPM would you launch it at? it sure wouldn't be 3,500..... Power glide or not, that conveter IS TOO TIGHT to 60 foot to it's optimum, no matter what cam you put in it.......
If you can't handle the truth, you're living a lie.......

I made these yesterday and will report back with the results when i race it again. It was kind of a pain cuz my headers have no flanges.I had a guy at a muffler shop flare one end of sum tubing so they would slip over the collectors.I fabed up sum ears and welded them to the collector and extensions so i can remove them if they dont help .The SB seems to be more crisp down low with the extensions .Now for the cool can ...
Start with the collector at 18"(from the end of the primary tubes) try it.... then cut 2" off and try it again... see which is best... might have to make another set but you will know what you need for length
