I recently purchased a mr. gaskets #1930 carb adapter and just cant get the dogleg bolts to line up with my carb bolt holes. Here is the adapter http://www.jegs.com/i/Mr.+Gasket/720/1930/10002/-1
Is there some kind of trick to this setup?

Do you have a hood clearance issue to deal with ? That looks incredibly . You aren't trying to screw the studs in till they are tight are you ?

I am trying to get a air cleaner to fit under my scoop and figured I would give this a try as it wasnt real exspensive. I can get three of them to line up but no matter what way I adjust the studs there is always one just off a little. I dont have the studs screwed in tight. Maybe the studs need a little tweaking! ?

This is probably the answer.

Have you tried a dropped base air cleaner?

I already have ab 16" x 2" drop base air cleaner with a 3 1/2" tall k&n with a xstreme flow filtertop. The problem is the 2" drop base with a 3 1/2" filter doesnt allow much flow between the lid and the drop base and the lid is at most 1/4" or closer to the bottom of the scoop so I dont think the filtertop will be doing anything.

I would be interested to hear if someone else had made one of these work.

I bought one years ago to try and gain some clearence in a bracket car,in my opinion they are an absolute joke. The transition into the intake manifold is horrible and you would be better off with a 4150 based carb.
Any performance gain you would get from a Dominator would be lost with that adaptor, but again, that is just my opinion. I never got it to bolt on and threw it under the workbench and spent the $$ for a Wilson adaptor that was a little shorter than the standard Holley 2" I was using.

I will have to mess with it some more. I am really interested to see what it does to my E.T. Hopefully it runs faster.

I used one when i first went to a dominator. It took a bunch of fiddling around to get it to work, but i was able to get it lined up.

As far as performance, it did allow me to get a dominator under my hood which wouldnt have worked with my 2" spacer i have. Yeah, the transition sucks, but my car did pick up 2 mph and .2 by bolting on the dominator. The following winter i had my intake converted to dominator flange...

I got the carb bolted on with a little tweaking. Now we will see if it hinders the performance. Lots of clearance for my air cleaner now.
