What kind of Anti-seize do you guys use when installing new spark plugs in aluminum heads? Would you want to use a copper based, nickel based, etc? Would it even make a difference?

Ive used the silver since the 70s.Never any problems and Ive probally replaced thousands of plugs at work and home.Try and get a set of 100K plugs out of a late Ford truck V8 and see why you will use it.Most use too much.Just need a tiny bit on the threads.Rocky

I don't use it anymore either. I take my plugs out all the time (aluminum heads) and have never had a problem.

I have never used it on plugs, like said a drop of oil works just fine. I also dont use it on wheel lug nut. Ive seen way too many wheels from Wal Mart fall off.
College instructor told me never use it on plugs. Dothe the heat transfer issue, and getting it on the plug itself are the reasons I dont. Never had any issues with them.

Odd, I've used anti-seize on my truck wheels for 30 years and never had a wheel fall off. Try that on a semi and not use it and try to get the inside lugs off. You will wish you had used it. I guess it is all about how you tighten things up.

Semi wheels are flat wahser lug style, the acorn style that are taper seat you are not supposed to use anti-sieze cause it can cause the lug the back off from vibration when it gets on the taper mating suface. I put a little drop of oil on the wheel stud threads when I put lug nuts back on. Some ford trucks are flat washer style and you can use anti-sieze on them if you wish.
as for spark plugs I was also told not to use anti-sieze as it adds resistance to the plug so I just put a small drop off oil on the threads.

I like it on a semi wheel, but I use it on the inside square headed stud, and not the nut. Dad-in-law has a Freighshaker, and we both do the same on the inner stud. Here in Nebraska they use a crap load of salt on the raods, and ive never been able to NOT get the nuts loose.
