I'm currently rebuilding my 904 with donor parts from another one with the low gear set. I noticed that my original kick down lever is a 3.2 and the donor has a 3.8. Any advantage to changing?

The 3.8 will apply more leverage to hold the band , the down side is it releases a hair slower . Swap it in.

I think I understand that part, but what would I expect to feel, experience or expect the transmission to do.?

WRONG only the 5.0 had a tendency to hang up and only if it was out of adjustment (too loose)

The 4.2 is considered the best overall and the 3.8 works great putting more leverage into stopping the drum to get it to shift into second!

Does that translate into a harder or quicker shift and if so is it harder on other components of the transmission?

If you think about it that doesn't make sense; the looser the band, the less likely it will drag on release.

Even a properly adjusted 5.0 lever will drag more on release than a lower ratio adjusted to the same servo plunger travel.
