redex79 OP pro stock Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 1,417 MS	I'm have some vibration problems with a 71 E body. A hemi was installed in place of the original 383 using Schumacher mounts. Still has the original K member using Schumacher mounts. Replaced the trans mount with the original material sytle, had the drive shaft checked and balanced. Tryed two complete sets of tires and wheels. Still having a vibration while driving at lower speeds untill around 70 mph. Vibration is not as bad but still noticable. I'm wondering if there might be a issue with the engine mounts. Has anyone had vibration problems like this ? Truckin Weekend ! 70 Dodge Dart Swinger 11 Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 21 Dodge Durango GT

Kern Dog Striving for excellence Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 18,493 Granite Bay CA	I used the poly mounts for the FrankenDuster project. The mill was a 9.2 to 1 360 with the '508 cam. It vibrated a little but I enjoyed it. What are the chances that the motor has a balance issue? Lets HOPE not, huh?

dm69charger enthusiast Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 388 Southington, Ohio	Is the vibration more noticeable in the front or back? The reason that I ask is because you may have a bent axle. I had one of those before on a Cheby. Drove me nuts until I replaced it.

DAYCLONA I Live Here Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 18,157 Mass	There could be a possibility that the mounts may have changed your driveline angle,....procure an inclination meter, measure the degree/angle of the oilpan lip, find a parallel centerline of the transmission to measure from, as well as the rear pinion centerline, you'd like to see the engine/transmission, and the rear pinion exhibiting the same/parallel angles with each other, and the driveshaft deflected at an opposite angle of 2 degrees approx,... SV_MOPARS pro stock S Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,236 Fairview Tennessee	i was having the same problem with a 65 dodge a990 clone i built for a guy, i tried everything 3 times, pinion angle up,down,2 and 4 degree's, new driveshaft balanced and rebalalanced, axles checked, wheels and tires, pulled the trans twice and had direct drive drum changed, called schumacher, prayed a couple of times, i could go on, still doing the same thing, it finally broke me and i gave up, the owner is suppose to be taking it to oceanside driveline to see if they can figure it out .

Changed out the engine mounts and that helped a little then changed the tranny mount back to rubber and the vibrations pretty much went away. It has nothing to do with Schumacher really just the poly mounts in general seem to transmit vibrations more. This is also kind of hit and miss as some guys get those vibrations with poly...some dont. In my case poly was the issue. If it were me I would start with the mounts first and then move onto other things mentioned in the posts above. Last edited by Moonraker; 02/23/12 08:07 PM.

Started up the car and didn't even drive it. The Steering wheel just BUZZED in my hands. Replaced the passenger side mount with stock--90% of the vibration was gone-I am happy.

1967GTX440 super stock Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 1,012 Ontario,Canada	I replaced my motor mounts and trans mount with Schumacher mounts on my 67 GTX 440 the one motor mount came out in 2 pieces org. mounts should have been changed when the engine was done.New mounts lifted the engine over an inch vibration is now complety gone.

The Schumacher hemi to b kmember mounts have small diameter bushings which will not cushion the vibrations especially with more cam in a motor. We found the Schumacher mounts also raise the motor higher than stock which changes the driveline angle. Add a Poly trans mount and you amplify the vibrations more. We measured after fighting with the product and found the error. Some one did not do their homework so in typical American fashion we get another 80% product instead of the required 100%. It's always our choice to accept mediocrity when excellence is required.

SV_MOPARS pro stock S Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,236 Fairview Tennessee	thanks for the response, i guess i will have to check with mega parts and see if they fab hemi k members for early b-bodies. one more thing, this particular car has the vibration at about 60mph, if you drop it in neutral going down hill the vibration is still there with the car idiling at about 1000rpm which would tell me its probably not the poly mounts but more of a geometry issue right?
