MY Durango does not want to shift back to first gear when cold. It will load then engine and then it stalls. Only one time. Any ideas?

Sounds more like the converter isn't unlocking when you come to a stop.

Get a code reader and check for codes.

Check the trans fluid level when hot in nuetral. Its very important that the level is correct or the converter can stay locked up. That trans (45rfe or 545rfe)actually uses the fluid pressure unlock the converter clutch and we had some that when the fluid was low it had the converter clutch lock up at idle. Ron
