today i began stripping down my old virgin motor to swap over to a donor 318 untill i can afford to have my orignal rebuilt when i poped off the factory exaust manifolds i noticed there were no gaskets!!! when the engine ran it had no exhaust leaks is this how they were back then? it blew my mind lol should i use exhaust gaskets with these manifolds when i bolt them to an 87 set of heads? i have never seen gaskets not used on manifolds but if its not broke i wont fix it any one ever seen such a thing

No gaskets from the factory because you were dealing with bacisally virgin machined surfaces . 40 plus years later, use them if you got them.
