Both fender extensions on my 72 Demon have stripped out tabs. They appear to be made of pot metal and use self cutting nuts and they refuse to stay tight. Any ideas what i should do about this? Maybe a big bandaid? (Cgall)

3 ways I have dealt with it.
Put a washer under the nut,so it grabs onto a better part of the stud.
Cut the stud off and drill a hole for a self tapping screw.
Cut the stud off, drill a hole and tap it for a steel stud.

Thanks for the reply. I took a tap and die set and cut threads on the exsisting studs and snugged them down with locktite. We will see how this goes for now.
