Ok, dad is planning on restoring and replacing the old weak suspension on our 70 chally convert. Here is a list of the items we are replacing and the thoughts on what the factory correct colors would be:

Rear leaf springs - semi flat black or natural cast steel?
Rear shackles - Natural steel color
Front leaf spring hanger - Semi flat black or natural cast steel?
Rear shocks - Semi gloss black
U bolts for axle to springs - Natural steel or zinc phosphate?
Nuts for the u bolts - have no clue
Large bolt/nut to hold front of spring to hanger - again, have no clue

Now, if the rear springs were painted from the factory, would the clamps be painted as well or were they added after the leafs were painted?

On another note, where the axle perchs rest on the leaf springs, are they supposed to have a certain degree angle to them or are they supposed to be parallel to the ground. The reason why I am asking is that the pinon for the rear axle is angled to the ground a little and not parallel to the ground. This might be corrected with the new springs we put in but I am just trying to cover my bases before we start this project on Sat.

Thanks for the input.
