I am getting 16 new Hydraulic lifters in today. Along with break in oil and Cam/Lifter Lube. This is the first time working inside my engine so if I could get some intructions... I have some books to go by but they are using an 5.9 magnum as there example. Also what is the recommendation on pre soaking the lifters in oil. Do I follow the same break in procedure as breaking in a new cam? Thanks for your help Moparts

I just did it on my 318 without removing the intake. It is tricky to do on the rear cylinders where there's stuff blocking your view but you can do it. I used that $8 expanding-tang tool that grabs the inner lip of the lifter.

Mose cam & lifter suppliers don't recommend pre-soaking the lifters any more. Put a good cam lube on the bases of the lifter and light oil on the lifter sides (not cam lube). If the engine has been run and you are just replacing the lifters (for what ever reason) install and reassemble and fire the engine the lifters should pump on there own.
Wonder what the reason is for not soaking them? I always have...not saying it's right?
