I have a 1969 Super Bee that is currently at a body shop and some questions about undercoating came up and I didn't have the answers so I figured I should ask them here.

Do the wheel houses get any undercoat?
Should there be any undercoat on the rocker panels?
Do the front frame rails(engine compartment) receive any undercoat?
How high up the firewall should there be undercoat?

If anybody has any more input about undercoating your help would be appreciated.

Thank You
Damien H.

Is the car a factory undercoat car ?

There is a certain amount of undercoat applied even on cars that did not have the soundproofing package .

I don't have the build sheet for it so I am not sure if it was a factory
undercoat car. It did have have a very thick layer of undercoat though before I removed as much of it as I could. It was on the gas tank, hoses, cables, etc. I do want to put undercoat back on it but I want to do it a little neater while somewhat replicating how the factory would have done it.

From what I have found doing many cars thru the years. All the cars had undercoating or sound deadning in all 4 wheel wells, that was standard. Factory undercaoted car had it sprayed all kinds of funky places depending on which illegal allien was doing it that day..LOL

As far as the firewall goes I have seen some up to the seam between the firewall and the floor pan and have also seem remnints of it all the way up to the voltage regulator on some cars. Most of the gas lines are covered as well as the rubber hoses in the back of the car as well.
Rocker panels may have some on the bottoms and may not and i have even seen some that appear to have been painted black on the bottom edge over the spot welds.

Inner front rails did have some on them on some cars and other had non.

best stuff I have found for all the above is the stuff Resto Rick sells its worth the money for sure..
