I have had panels sand blasted, and have had to do a lot of bodywork on the panels afterwards because it seems people who do the sandblasting don't understand the damage they can do (despite my instructions to them). Or, they don't understand English. So, I am wondering about chemical stripping. Is there a problem with certain parts like hoods and deck lids trapping the chemicals they use inside and causing some eventual corrosion? Is there some kind of neutralizing bath they get dipped in? I don't know anything about the process.

Go to a autobody paint store and get 5 gallons of aircraft remover, not the low oder stuff. Then its off to home depot to get a polyethelene bug sprayer. Fill bug sprayer 3/4" full, 25 pumps and start spraying. I have stripped several airplanes and cars this way. Have water available and wear a tyvek suit. One little speck of the Methelene Chlroide burns like wickedly crazy. Do not get it ony any rubber or plastic because it will melt it. Tim

I have zero desire to dress up like a Hazmat dude and do this myself.

It would be a cool halloween costume though..

Oh, and there has been a few threads from memory regarding chemical stripping versus blasting.

Was one that came up, just searched for 'dipping' here.

I had my doors and fenders stripped. It worked well. I did not do the deck lid as the dipping will remove the glue between the inner and outer structures. Around here it was $60 per fender, $80 per door.
I sandblasted the jambs, under carridge, trunk, and engine compartment. I used paint stripper on the quarters and roof. And speaking of Hazmat Dude

Not sure who did the work for Doug......however, give Edgar a call (Central Michigan Stripping) @(517)543-4494. He is southwest of Lansing. I have had him do several items for me. He does great work!

POR 15 makes a great stripper that you put into a spray bottle. I used it several years ago on my Challenger and it worked awesome. It neuralizes great with water which is something the gell types don't do. The gell type also seems to ooze out of seams after you have cleaned so you would want to use a pressure washer after and be diligent with it. The 15 was made up of some alchohols and other stuff if my memory serves me. When I used it it the engine bay it had already wrinkled up once I made it all the way around. I also didn't have to wear a suit or respirator.
