Have a question guys......
In your opinion's what is the best(performance) Head for serious street performance and occasional track outing's while on pump gas and somewhat nice street manner's. Looking to make 600hp/600lbs Trq in a 68 Charger with a 4 speed and Dana.
Trying to decide my best bet for performance using a roller cam in a 505 stroker around 10.5 comp, just need to decide Heads. Cost is not a concern as I want the best bang for the buck. The heads I'm looking into Indy EZ or 440-1, RPM Perf, Stealth and Victor. The head I purchase will be CNC ported, etc.
Please guys what should I do......
Thanks, Joe

I would use Max Wedge sized port window, either Victor or 440-1. Don't know much about the differnt CNC ported versions, might be that CNC ported 440-1's are a little on the big side for a relatively low CR 505. But otherwise I have good experiences about 440-1's in about 500 su in pump gas use.

600 ponies? i'd go with SR heads. my 'cuda had 650ish with a 451 & SR heads. had good street manners too. don't even consider Stealths.

Didnät notice you were aiming at only 600 hp. Then the smaller heads should be fine.

Can't say for sure without Cam specs... The goal should be to raise and extend your powerband as high as possible without sacrificing any midrange torque to get there. If you already have headers that fit I'd look at a Max wedge EZ-1...though they're not my #1 favorite power maker head (due to the somewhat compromised {fitment vs flow} exhaust port), the excellent intake port makes most of that back up. 440-1's in CNC trim have the most power potential and with a 4 speed a somewhat "oversized' head may actually make the car more tractible at low/part throttle.....again with the right cam.

I would go with the 440-1 cnc kit and try to make the compression 11.5 or even 12 to 1 with a bigger roller and you will still be able to use 93 octane gas. depending on the roller look at 700 hp and at least 550 to 600 ft lb. Best thing about a 440-1 kit is it comes with everything you need! Everything! Victors with max wedge port and CNC will also give that pop! so kinda tomato tomato! If exhaust clearance is an issue like in an A body go with max intake cnc ported EZ's

I went with the Indy EZ heads on the 493 in my 63. I wanted 600 hp as I wanted to go 10's on pump gas thru the exh and it easily reached my goal. Bought my EZ heads from Dwayne Porter and he did some work on them for me. I use the Indy dual plane intake and it has 10.6 comp. 10.70's so far driving to and from the track has made me a happy camper. Ron

MW RPM/Stealth head with mopar 337 intake is the cheapest and easiest and will get you there no problem
EZ great value for the money
Victor and -1s more expensive but most potential and depending on if you have to buy Rocker arms anyway, this may be a route to look at

My 501 makes around 675 on pump gas with the 295 cnc lil ez's. 11.5 compression with a comp roller 268/276 @ .050 with the High Torque .440 lobes.Comes in around 190 psi cranking compression. Ran 10.22 on pump gas through the mufflers in my 67.

600 HP on pump gas is not hard with a 505 stroker, Eddy RPM CNC and a good inatke and a 1050 domintor or a 4150 1000 HP carb will get you there easily, maybe a little more My bracket 505 made 687 on a Studka dyno at 2500 ft above sea level using race gas though, 12.5 to 1 comp. ratio. drop the compression to 10.5 or so with the same combination on pump gas will make 625 to 650 HP pretty easily See my post on my 518 dyno test this week PM me if you want

My motor is a 535 stroker with a set of box stock set of victors, roller cam, and 12.5 to 1 comp. It made 758hp@6500 and 728ft lbs@4300. When I was building the motor i talked to Dale Chenoweth of Chenoweth Speed and Machine and he said there was little to no difference between the Indys and the Victors. I also ran the stealths on the previous moter which was also a 535 with 10 to 1 and a solid cam and that motor ran 6.90 in the 1/8 in a 69 dart and those heads were also straight out of the box, no port work. So any of the heads will get you there but the stealth can with a port job and they are alot cheaper. It just depends on the future upgrades that you are planning and buget. You could also save $$$ with the stealths due to not having to have the offset rockers and lifters but the will need a good port job.
