Pos is the right hand post in the picture. Always the larger post. Yes it is the + that is disconnected. Should also be stamped on the battery case.

Shouldn't the disconnect be on the negative side?

Intelligent people can disagree, but...

a quick disconnect such as pictured can be done on either the positive side (in my experience, the more common location) OR on the negative side.

What might be confusing for some people is the absolute rule when wrenching off battery connections. In that case, you always undo the negative first and reconnect it last, so that you cannot inadvertently do a dead short between a ground point and the positive post of a fully connected battery.

(This all assumes you are not working on an ancient British car with positive earth.)

Down to just a blue car now.

Thanks! Funny, I just found this post on the HAMB. Looks like people do disagree on this.

Or a up to mid 50's model of a lot of domestics including Ford had + ground. A lot of vehicles and implements of that era had + ground.

Either is fine, period. What I have found is that most disconnects I have bought only fit well on the negative post, because many batteries have a smaller negative post than positive.
