Here is my new one. Well not all new we just added to what was there. I actually hated the tall scoop on the Barracuda, so we decided to ad a cowl to it. After a couple of days of cussing and work we finally have it like we want. A little more trimming to do in the rear on the cowl and some blending and bodywork up top. But my son will have that whipped out tonight. So what do you guys think?

Oh yeah it will soon be sporting some new color. Custom blended just picked it up today. Will also have more "stuff" done to it. All the bodywork on the car is done including restretching of the wheelwells and fixing the few dents and dings as well as enclosing the front lower valance area. Hoping ot have it all done in a couple of weeks. Get the stuff back from powder coating and then need to find a nice grille or someone that can reqork mine..

Anyway enjoy!

Al I think the old scoop looked good. I think the one you made will look much better with color on it.
But whats important is if YOU like it!
Looks like a good job of mating the 2 scoops.

What engine are you running this year? Is it going to be the Hemi 99 engine still, or is there something else in the pipeline??

I have been watching this type scoop for awhile...'572'..had the first cowl hood with another on top. Everybody kinda' gave him a hard time for awhile. After some testing and problems with hood /carb clearance and forward facing scoops,,,it all started to make sense to me, and some others evidently, as posts have shown. I will have 'my' design in pics as soon as my fiberglass 'guru' can get done with all the Corvettes he is working on!! Hint:..cowl hood with a narrowed '68 Hemi scoop..

Car had a 68 Hemi scoop on it. Nowhere near enough room for the engine combo. Barely held the B1.

As for powerplant. Well seems no one wants a smoking deal on a 99 Hemi so we will likely put it back in the car. Cant even get anyone to trade me anything plus a little cash for it. I have an Indy engine sitting here as well but thats no fun. I just wont be able to really race anything with it and the 99 in place. Well the MATS maybe. Not really a show up at a bracket race kinda deal ya know. But we will figure out soemthing to do with it, since we still have no word on Hot Street and we are less than one month away from the first race i am thinking it is done...

The other car will be getting a new hood when we paint it. Keep saying we are gonna do it but always find something else to work on. Been leaning towards a wrap with matrix winter cammo lately. Better yet someone should buy that car, killer consistent and seems to run ok

Oh yeah here was the before shot. had to throw in a Ford for whitedart

I must say all of these "chevy hood" comments make me laugh Whatever works I say!
Most Mopars down here have a Phurd diffs in them, I wonder how the Purple Cam crew would feel about that, lol

I take it Al, that the Hemi 99 is no longer legal or would require too much ballast for Hot Street?

i like it, thinking outside the box, once its painted i think the cowl will blend nicely into the tall part of the scoop, and shame on all of you who think a 6 pack or hemi scoop is the only thing available for a mopar Al has 2 cars that run very good times and he races, no wonder so many people have left this board, BTW i have never met Al

Well at this point 27 days away from the first scheduled PSCA race we still dont have a class to race in. At the SCSN race the rumor was the class was a goner. The PSCA will not commit one way or the other and time is ticking away. Frankly I just want an answer whether or not we have a class to run in.

The new NA10.5 "national" rules with the NMCA has a set of rules as well as four events scheduled out west here. Unfortunately the rules are not in my favor. It would require more weight to the already porky car. Plus the addition of mufflers and the switch to a spec fuel. Actually the fuel part is the deal breaker for me. I do not have the inclination to go back to the dyno and beat on the engine to get it right for the spec fuel. Likely costing me a few thousand dollars in the end. The mufflers and more weight are not a huge deal, but the cost of switching to an outrageously expensive spec fuel and the R&D required are.

For me it is even worse. I can enter the Phoenix NHRA national event which is on the same weekend as the PSCA race. I had not done it as I was waiting on an answer from the PSCA. Since time is limited and I have basically til the 25th to enter the National before the grade point drops again and the field will likely be filled it may be to late at this point to worry about it. At any rate I am not at all happy about the situation. If I wait my guess is we will notbe racing anywhere the weekend of the 17th of Feb. or I can just blow off the PSCA and enter the National event. Not hapopy at all

Sorry rant off

Alan,
Do you have a copyright on "Purple Cam Crew"?? I feel an inspiration for some T-shirts!!

Al,
I don't expect the National to fill up that quick, but it would be nice to know something from PSCA...BTW the new scoop looks like what I see when I look down at the urinal...a [Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean] hanging out of a zipper! just sayin...
