Just a few more pics of the work in progress. The body repairs are finished on the passenger side of the car..and it's in primer. 2-3 trouble spots had to be ground out..patched-up..and filled in. Looks REAL SWEET! Well..didn't do the door jambs today. Instead,I was helping Tony with some metal patch work on the driver side of the car. Here are a few pics...the other pics are at the end of this post..SORRY! Randy

that's coming along quite nicely. are you doing most of the work yourself, or is it on someones shop? i'm assuming the rate of progress is based on the fact that it was already in "pretty good" shape to begin with. it's a lot of work nonetheless.

Thanks,Dan! The X was in "good" shape..but was a little rough around the edges,so to speak! It had some rot..previously done body work was shabby at best..and the paint was second-class...and OLD! One of my neighbors is doing the work..with some sanding and prepping help from me. So far,I'm VERY PLEASED with his progress..he's a perfectionist...not a bad thing! Take care! Randy

Al..I wasn't around when Tony sprayed the primer, but I'm sure he taped off the glass when he laid it down! Doug..NO vinyl top..he just didn't get to the roof yet. There are some flaws in the metal, just above the driver side drip rail..they look like spot welds..a series of small "dents" that have to be smoothed-out. T-Boom..Not sure when the X will be TOTALLY back together and on the streets again,but...it'll be MUCH better looking! ...and SHOULD be faster,as well!

LOTS of "stuff" to do before it's ready to hit the street,or track...but should look MUCH better than before! Thanks for the kind words..and ALL your help with this project,Randy!..REALLY APPRECIATE IT!

Lookin' sharp. I was guilty of changing the color on mine when I had it, and I grew to regret it. It's cool you're staying with green.

Thanks,Nick! Came real close to going with a dark red..but,I kept it green...hopefully I won't regret it...don't think I will! Like a LOT of people have said...green looks good on the B-Body's! I know of one certain A-Body from the Indianapolis area that sure looks GREAT in a BASF Foose custom green!!! AWFUL FAST,as well!

Thanks guys/gals! Kath..you and I are part of the "Green Mopar Brother/Sisterhood"! Being a "minority" we have to try MUCH harder to be recognized...especially with all those BLACK,BLUE,RED,and WHITE cars out there! Kenny,my man..those stickers are going to look good,my friend! Try to send me a pic or 3 of them when they're finished!

Well...no door jamb work today! I was helping Tony with some patch work..mostly on the driver's door, and the rocker panel. Lots of old bondo, and a few holes to patch up! Here's a pic of the braze repair in the door handle area. Randy

Thanks,Al..Ron! Yeah..Tony's pretty darn good with brazing..and metal work in general! Very conscientious about his work! If the driver's side comes out as STRAIGHT as the passenger side..I'll be a "Happy Camper"!

i thought the body guy that quoted some work for me was nuts, heck anyone can do it,well a year later i figured what he quoted me was a BARGIN,the skill and work involved in that trade is well worth the money they earn every cent.

Definately old school body repairs. I haven't used brass for patch panels since 1980. Nice work. Heck I forgot there was any way to do patch panels except for the mig.

"Old School" is right! I was a little bit leery about Tony's asking price...actually,it was MY "ceiling" price..being on a budget and all!...until I physically saw his work on 3 local cars..then,by helping him out on occasions! I believe I made the right choice! We'll see when it's complety done...and painted!

Randy with what I have seen by the pics , you will be real happy. I have been doing this crap for way too long and can tell a real body man from a mile away.

Joe..hope you're right! I'll be REAL CURIOUS to see what the appraised value will be when EVERYTHING is done! I'm sure a bit more than before the project started! Are you a CAR appraiser?..if so,what do you think a "ballpark" value on a modified GTX like mine would be? I didn't have it appraised..but,I had the agreed value stated on my policy as $16,000....for what it's worth!

Appraised would be one of those deals where a lot of pics and info is needed. But with the car pics I have seen and the quality of the workmanship. I would imagine the car to be in the mid 20s and maybe even more. I finished up a restore "body and paint work only " on a 67 GTX last year and that car has been valued at over 40,000.00

Thanks for the info,Joe! Mid-20's would be fine by me! Jay..thanks for the kind words! You'll see the X if you go to the Eastpointe Gratiot Cruise in June..and the Harper Cruise in August! Not TOO MANY green '69' GTX's running around the Motor City!...at least not that I've ever noticed at the east-side cruises...and a few WEST-side cruises...since 1995!

Hey Randy , just got my shell painted today. It looks a little orange but it really is Viper red. What do you think ?
