Starter on 440 (1967)....backed it out, went to pull it back in ...starter clicks rapidly but no crank. Jumped it the relay and the starter runs but doesn't engage. Battery is good Solenoid on starter maybe? I'm old and tired and got CRS (can't remember stuff) What now ? Thanks

there's a poor connection inside, not enough amperage being passed. Open it up & good visual & should be apparent EDIT 1st, check (clean if need be) the posts/cables

The bendix is not kicking out the starter gear to engage the flywheel, is that whats going on? How long has it been sitting?

Jeez, stupid me. 12.8 volts on a MM does not mean a batt. is good. Stuck the load-checker on it and it barely got warm. Battery is about two months old. ROAD TRIP back to Wally World. Thanks all
